The Epoxy Flake Application Process

Step One: Evaluating and Preparation

This is the most critical step. Our technicians prepare the surface with a diamond grinder or shot blaster. (We always use HEPA-filtered vacuums to control dust.) Next, we apply a quality patching product to repair cracks. Then we vacuum the whole floor twice in order to remove dust. This preparation is essential to achieve a clean, porous flooring surface that will enable our systems to bond and penetrate at molecular levels. This serves to ensure the floor will remain in top condition for many years.

Step Two: Repair and Primer

This advances the process by repairing cracks and divots in the surface. Next, we apply a color coating of 100 percent solid epoxy with a partial or full broadcast of Polymer vinyl decorative chips of your choice of color and size.

Step Three: Light Sanding and Clearcoat

This part of the process involves sanding the flakes to attain the right texture. After sanding, we vacuum up the remaining loose flakes. This step concludes with the application of a clear coat that contains an anti-skidding aggregate.
